Stopping a service means you no longer wish to have electricity at a specific location and want a meter permanently retired. To retire a service, please call our office to begin the process. We will need to verify the location and details.
Information to have ready when you call: Meter number, physical address of the service location OR legal land descriptions.
Once verified, we'll take the following steps:
Confirm property ownership
Mail an Line Retention/Retirement Affidavit form for your signature
Coordinate the retirement of the meter and account closure.
Transferring services means changing the electric account from one member's name to another, while keeping the physical service active.
To initiate a transfer, both parties need to be involved. Both the current account holder and the new account holder need to call our office to request the transfer.
What we will do:
Verify service location and meter information
Confirm property ownership
If neither parties own the property, we will contact the landowner directly to authorize the transfer.
Once verified we will send an Application for Electric Service and several other important forms, to those taking over the service. Once these signed documents have been returned we will finalize the transfer to the new member.
