As a member of Slope Electric, you will soon receive your first copy of North Dakota Living, a statewide magazine produced for all electric cooperative members in North Dakota. Slope Electric uses the center section of this magazine to provide local cooperative information.

Slope Electric, operating as a not-for-profit cooperative, is dedicated to serving its members, not generating profits for shareholders. Our primary goal is to provide goods and services to you at cost, ensuring affordability and value for our members.

Member Ownership
You have a significant say in the operation of your co-op through the election of board members. These directors, guided by cooperative principles such as voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, and member economic participation, oversee the cooperative's policies, financial decisions and goals, representing your interests and ensuring a member centered approach.
Local Accountability
Slope Electric is a democratically-governed private electric utility that is owned by the very members it serves.

Capital Credits
Surplus funds, known as net margins, belong to the members, not the utility. These funds are either reinvested to enhance operations or returned to you as capital credits, reflecting your equity in the cooperative. When all expenses are covered, your cooperative's margins are credited to you as capital credits, which can be paid out to you in cash when financially feasible. In the meantime, these capital credits represent your ownership stake in the cooperative. Capital credit refunds are allocated based on the level of business you conduct with the cooperative.
